From the 28th January EVTC will be using a new court booking system called “ClubSpark”, as the existing one is being retired. For booking courts for up to the 27th January you should continue to use the existing BookIT system.
As with the existing system you can book courts up to 7 days in advance. If you wish to book a court for the 28th January onwards, you will need to do it using ClubSpark. Access to ClubSpark will be available from the 21st January to book courts for 28th January onwards.
To book using Clubspark, you have to first register and create an account. Booking is easy and self-explanatory, but here are some instructions to follow if needed:
After having registered, go to Book A Court on the EVTC website, follow the link to Clubspark Booking System, and sign in to your account. On the page Make A Booking, click on the court at the time you want to book, and from the drop-down box, insert the time you want to finish – normal social bookings can be up to 1.5 hours. Choose Booking as your Category if it is for a friendly game of tennis; or otherwise as appropriate eg competition. If you click on “Me”, your contact details will come up automatically and you will receive a confirmation email. Press Book Now.
On Thursday 13th December, 17 players enjoyed an evening of festive tennis, wearing Christmas hats and sparkly jumpers, and braving a very cold night. Barbara Awbery organised us excellently. We played a handicap system, which involved quite a lot of concentration from everyone to get it right, but which worked very well as could be seen by the close scores! There were 2 boxes, and we played 4 matches and 7 games each.
Well done to the winners: Caryl Corridan and Katherine Neill in Box 1; and Pui Pride and Katie of Box 2.
Many thanks to Barbara Awbery for bringing along mulled wine and prizes, and making the evening such fun; and to Di Mathisen for baking delicious mince pies. Here are a few snaps:
On Thursday 29th November the Ladies B Team enjoyed another Christmas Drinks evening and discussion of how to move the Team forward. Matchplay Coaching sessions will start in the New Year. Details to follow. If anyone would like to try these sessions – Contact Yeside Linney on 07768 660052.
Elstead Tennis Club paid tribute to former coach Dan Burden for the fifth year by once again running the Dan Burden Trophy. Dan died in a car crash, aged 21. The tournament is a Junior Grade 3 LTA tournament, which is regional level, and attracted juniors from all over the country, including Devon, Northampton and South Wales. There were numerous entries from Elstead juniors, as well as players from other local clubs – Godalming, Merrow, Grayshott, The Bourne and Woking.
This year there were even more events, with girls’ and boys’ tournaments from 8 and Under to 18 and Under, and both singles and doubles for all ages over 10. The biggest draw was the 12 and Under boys, which had 32 entries. All events were well supported with the majority of the events having around 20 entrants. With 267 players in the tournament and 381 matches to organise, the club was fortunate that Byfleet Tennis Club were happy to help run some of the events. Even so the club was buzzing all day and into the evening to get all the matches played. Next year Elstead hopes to include adult events as well.
The Club thanks Barbara Awbery for the many hours of hard work organising the event, which gave the Club publicity and prestige, and raised substantial funds for it. Her professionalism showed through and the events ran without a hitch in wonderful weather.
Many Club members were involved in some way or another, whether it was court supervising, serving refreshments, baking cakes or tidying the clubhouse for visitors. Many thanks to everyone, as the event couldn’t have run without you.
